Here we are re-creating a photo at the place in Fairchild Gardens where we got married - the Garden Club of America Amphitheatre. It's still the same except for the gold statue, which is new. Robert and I stood up at the stone podium with Rolando Jimenez, who performed our wedding, and our family and friends gathered around the pond below.
Here's the original photo. Looking back, I think Robert and I love each other just as much, if not more now than we did then. I have to admit, though - all these years later, I still don't know what the heck you're supposed to do with an ice bucket!

Congratulations on 42 years mom and dad! What's an ice-bucket?
It's a little insulated bucket with a top. We got them in all different colors. I think it's either for putting champagne in or for keeping ice cool at a party, but we were never sure and never used them.
Great re-enactment. An ice bucket
is used to place ice cubes in, so that people can take as many ice cubes as they want for their drinks - water, soda, etc. etc.
Congratulations on 42 years!!
Next time you come over, I'll show
you my ice buckets.
Happy early anniversary! Here's to many more blissful years!
Happy anniversary you two. Had to laugh at the ice buckets. That is why I love todays bridal registries.
Think I would have regifted them or had a yard sale. If the roof ever leaks, you are set.
Love the picture.
That's a sweet picture! I kind of wish we had a photo of that spot (with you in it) 42 years ago, but I know that's not what the chicken blog is all about. Happy Anniversary!!!
Happy 42nd Anniversary! Great example for your family. Time does fly, especially when you are married to the right person.
John & I will be married 30 years on April 4. We feel that we are a team going through life together, enjoying the good times together & helping each other through the challenges.
Happy Anniversary! I thought of all this today, before seeing the blog post. The only picture I have of the garden wedding is in my brain. The bride had a black miniskirt and a multicolored black and red top, I think, and the groom wore some sort of a dark suit which was not usually used. Could be wrong on that point. But it was a beautiful day, and the performer of the ceremony made a wisecrack that his weddings produced many children. Seems like I could have brought a camera. have a good year, love, susanna
Thanks, Susanna. You have a good memory. We don't remember the wisecrack about the children, but we do remember that when we were repeating our vows, instead of "till death do us part" he had us say "forsoever," which we both liked.
Happy Anniversary - 42 years, wow
that's terrific. It was so nice to
see a picture of you both on your
wedding day. Hope you have many more happy and healthy years together.
These are so much fun, Ellen! I want more!!!
Hmmmm, what to do with an ice bucket? Use it as a purse or planter. Small garbage bin for the car. As a trap for lizards in your house - then release them back into the wild. Ice ;)
